The Center for Voice and Swallowing Disorders
The expert team of otolaryngologists (ear, nose and throat physicians and surgeons) and speech-language pathologists at the Center for Voice and Swallowing Disorders at the New York Head and Neck Institute of the North Shore-LIJ Health System is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of adult and pediatric disorders of speech and swallowing.

The center's comprehensive core program of excellence can trace its history back to 1869, when otolaryngologists practicing at Manhattan Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital (MEETH) began to care for patients with voice and swallowing disorders. Working with other specialists in these disorders in New York City, they would help to found the New York Laryngological Society (NYLS) and later the American Laryngological Association (ALA).
