Dr. Romo is the director of the Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, North Shore/LIJ, Lenox Hill Hospital, and The Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital. In this academic capacity, Dr. Romo is in charge of training residents and fellows in the latest techniques in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. He conducts clinical research and directs publications in national and international periodicals and texts. He teaches courses nationally and internationally on the latest techniques in facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. His well attended international course in New York ,“ New York Aging Face” brings together students and thought leaders to advance the concepts in managing the effects of aging on the human face.

Academic Credits: Dr. Romo is the Director of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, North Shore/LIJ, Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital and The Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital in New York City. Dr. Romo is also the Director Emeritus of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Romo published his academic text book , “Aesthetic Facial Plastic Surgery-An Interdisciplinary Approach”, which was well accepted in the international plastic surgery community. Dr. Romo is an innovator in the concept of minimally invasive facial aesthetic surgery. He invented and designed all of the instruments for aesthetic rejuvenation surgery for the internal company, Karl Storz Endoscopy. His technique of (Endoscopic Composite Facelift) has been presented and taught to physicians all over the world and is published in a set of books called The Karl Storz Silver Book Series. Dr. Romo has published over 100 academic papers on new techniques in rhinoplasty, revision rhinoplasty, endoscopic brow and midface lifting, otoplasty, and chin implants. Dr. Romo is one of the world's leaders in providing reconstructive surgery for children born without ears known as microtia. He has pioneered a less invasive procedure that uses stable safe implants for ear reconstruction. This procedure eliminates the need for the more aggressive technique of using the child's own rib cartilage. Therefore, the number of surgical procedures needed and the length of hospital stays are limited.
Humanitarian Work Dr. Romo has participated in multiple pro bono international facial reconstructive surgery trips to help children with facial birth defects. These trips were sponsored by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive surgery under their Face to Face program. Dr. Romo is the founder and President of The Little Baby Face Foundation. This organization provides pro bono facial reconstructive surgery for children 0-21 years old, with any facial birth defect not limited to just cleft lip surgery. The transportation to New York City, room and board, hospital and anesthesia fees are all provided free of cost. The interdisciplinary medical advisory board provides services from pediatrics, pediatric dentistry, and oralmaxillofacial, oculoplastic, ENT, facial and general plastic surgery. All of these medical services are provided pro bono.
Professional Organization Dr. Romo is past president of The New York Facial Plastic Surgery Society. He has held multiple administrative positions in the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery including Eastern section vice president, fellowship, finance, multimedia and exhibitor committees.
