About Douglas Frank MD, FACS

Dr. Douglas Frank is Director, Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Co-Director, The Center for Head and Neck Oncology of The North Shore-LIJ Cancer Institute and The New York Head and Neck Institute, Chief of the Division of Head and Neck Surgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, and Associate Professor of Otolaryngology and Molecular Medicine at the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine. He also holds an appointment as an Associate Investigator in The Institute for Oncology and Cell Biology at North Shore-LIJ’s Feinstein Institute for Medical Research. Dr. Frank received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He received his Head and Neck Surgical Oncology training at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX subsequent to Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery residency training at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in New York City. He was an attending physician at The Institute for Head and Neck and Thyroid Cancer at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City prior to joining the team at North Shore-LIJ. Dr. Frank’s areas of specialization include: head and neck tumor surgery, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, salivary gland surgery, skull base surgery, and surgery for head and neck melanoma and advanced non-melanoma skin cancer. He has received numerous grants for his basic science research work, has published extensively in the clinical as well as basic science head and neck oncology literature, has written numerous book chapters, and has presented his work and lectured in the field at national meetings.
